I have been interested in photography since my teen years. Before beginning a career in masonry restoration, focusing on historic restoration, I attend a photography school in Denmark. I then spent two years as the staff photographer for the non-profit Community Design Center in Minneapolis. I was in this position as a VISTA volunteer. After that I began my career in masonry restoration. While my career did distract me from photography I was able to visit and photograph many old and historic buildings.
After my retirement I began a more active pursuit of my photography. The last several years I have spent traveling the country. Often I have travelled on back roads and/or visited sites I have learned about. While exploring sites I try to visualize images that intrigue me. This may include natural and manufactured textures, contrasts created by light and shadow and the interplay between sky (clouds) and the environment.
I admire the work of well known artists including Ansel Adams, Edward Weston, Alfred Stietglitz, Margaret Bourke-White and others. I have alos been inspired by the artists and photographers of the Farm Security Administration.
